Grammar Work with Classroom Cereal

Do you feel like your students no longer notice spelling and grammatical mistakes in their work?  Sometimes it feels like students have lost their eye for detail.

Enter a website called Classroom Cereal, created by a teacher.  He's made fun, five-page (one page per day) stories that your students read to look for grammatical mistakes.  There's also a reading strategy question at the end of each page.  Those questions generate good discussions; students can make predictions, find text evidence, or visualize what they've read about.  Need to have the Classroom Cereal answers?  There's an answer key for every story.

I use these as bell ringers and am watching my students monitor their own writing a little more carefully as a result.

I have no affiliation with the creator or the product, but I know my students enjoy reading the passages.  And the best part is that it's free!  Here's the link, if you're interested.

Have a great week,
