How would it feel to have some activities in place, though? To have students close reading and working to solve challenges?
Meaning, you'd get to see students in action: they'd get to practice reading strategies and work collaboratively with a partner or two. There could be some good learning for your new students and for you, too.
Worth it? Umm, yeah.
