Top 25 Summer Reading Books for Teachers (2025 Edition)

I asked the teacher friends on my email list for recommendations for good books for me to read over the summer.  They were so excited to share good reads that I created a list of the 25-30 books they'd recommended and shared it back with them.

🤩🤩 My favorite response:  "I'm on my way to the copier right now!"

These are some of the books I recommend for this year, but you'll need to add some recommendations to them to get the list to 25!

What do you hope to read this summer, for pleasure or growth?  Have you read any good books this year that the rest of us should get our hands on?  Leave a comment below, please!

Have you read these?
  1. Still Life - and the other 18 books in the Louise Penny's Armand Gamache series.  I NEVER read more than one or two books in a series, and I could not stop with these books! ❤️❤️ It's partly the reason we're spending some time visiting Canada this year.
  2. On Call - by Anthony Faucci.  Really interesting memoir about his life, AIDS, other epidemics (including Covid), and how important it is to work hand-in-hand with the White House to get help where it's needed around the world.  Protecting others helps protect us in the long run.
  3. Longborne by Jo Baker.  If you liked Pride and Prejudice, you'll want to read this.  It's that story, but told from the perspectives of the housekeeping staff.  Like Downton Abbey in terms of POV.
  4. Horse by Geraldine Brooks.  Weaves together three stories from three time periods, all centered around a horse named Lexington.  Like all of her books, this is well-written and thoughtful.
  5. Weyward by Emilia Hart.  This one is also told in three periods: 1619, 1943, and today.  A wonderful story of women discovering their own strengths despite societal expectations.
✔️ What books would you recommend that we read this summer?  Comment below with any suggestions.
