Your 6th graders are reading their own books. Help them show what they know!

Tired of more traditional book reports?  I created these Independent Book Projects to give kids a choice.  You know how much kids like to choose!  And this fit the bill.  Everyone got to do something they liked and I could tell whether they understood the skills we'd been putting into place since the beginning of the year.

There's a time and a place for intensive book projects.  This is not one of those.  These have one page of instruction and a graphic organizer to help students get started.  Short and sweet, and you still get a sense of what they know.

Having 8 choices means there is something for everyone.

The directions explain what the project is, what students need, and the steps to get there.  And then,

graphic organizers help them get there.  And you both work on the rubric.  They start by checking off when they've finished a step and you comment on the overall project.
